Arne Slot Admits Victor Osimhen Injury Gave Liverpool Advantage in Champions League Win
Liverpool head coach Arne Slot has admitted that Victor Osimhen’s injury played a significant role in his team’s dominant victory over Galatasaray in the UEFA Champions League.
The Reds cruised to a 4-0 win at Anfield, sealing their place in the quarterfinals, but the game took a major turn early on when Osimhen was forced off due to injury.
The Nigerian striker picked up the injury in the 9th minute and struggled to make an impact before being substituted at halftime, leaving Galatasaray without their main attacking threat in the second half of the match.
Speaking after the game, Slot acknowledged Osimhen’s quality while admitting that his absence benefited Liverpool.
“Osimhen is an incredible player. His injury worked in our favor. It is not nice to see a player get injured, but he has shown many times how dangerous he can be in front of goal,” the Liverpool manager said.
