‘An ultimate personal experience.’ Cardoso considers the Club World Cup the pinnacle of his career

Throughout his coaching career, Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Miguel Cardoso has worked in many countries, and the Portuguese tactician reflected on his achievements.
Details: In an interview with FIFA's press service, the mentor of the "Glamour Boys" shared that he has been through a lot as a coach, including the outbreak of war in eastern Ukraine in 2014 when he was the head coach of Shakhtar Donetsk's youth team. Yet, it is the Club World Cup with Mamelodi Sundowns that he considers the crowning moment of his career.

Quote: “I remember the 2013/14 season — I was in Donetsk when the war in Ukraine began. I was the last foreigner to leave the city, so for me it was, let’s say, an ultimate personal experience. I stayed there until 2017, and then a whirlwind of events followed — a real rollercoaster ride.
Somewhere I was more successful, somewhere less so, but the very fact that I managed to reach such a level — from Portugal to France, to Spain, to Greece, to Ukraine... That is, without a doubt, impressive. Then came Tunisia, and now — South Africa.
Where would I place the Club World Cup? Definitely right at the top. This is the first competition of such magnitude where I will participate as a head coach. It truly is a tournament of the best of the best, where we will compete against the leading clubs in the world,” Cardoso said.
