Ajayi Header Puts Super Eagles Ahead in AFCON Opener

Nigeria made a positive start to their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations campaign with a 1-0 lead over Tanzania in their Group C opener in Fes, Morocco. Semi Ajayi scored the decisive goal in the 36th minute, rising unmarked to head home a well-delivered cross from Alex Iwobi.

The Super Eagles dominated possession and created several chances, with Victor Osimhen and Akor Adams going close before the breakthrough. Tanzania defended bravely but struggled to cope with Nigeria’s pressure.

Nigeria, runners-up in 2023, are aiming to go one step further this time.
