AFCON 2025: Victor Osimhen Substituted After Frustration Despite Brace Against Mozambique
Nigeria’s star striker Victor Osimhen showed visible signs of frustration during the second half of the Super Eagles’ AFCON 2025 Round of 16 clash against Mozambique, a moment that ultimately led to his substitution despite scoring twice in the match.
Osimhen was once again decisive for Nigeria, finding the back of the net in both halves of the encounter. The brace took his AFCON 2025 tally to three goals and one assist, further cementing his role as the Super Eagles’ main attacking threat in the tournament.
However, the second half was not without tension. The Galatasaray forward appeared to be involved in a brief on-field disagreement with teammate Ademola Lookman. Although the exchange was short, it was noticeable and seemed to affect Osimhen’s composure as the game went on.
Moments later, the Nigerian coaching crew opted to make a change, withdrawing Osimhen and introducing Moses Simon in his place
