AFCON 2025: Tanzania Coach Miguel Gamondi Reveals Plan to Contain Osimhen, Chukwueze and Lookman

Taifa Stars of Tanzania head coach, Miguel Gamondi, has outlined his tactical approach ahead of his team’s opening match against Nigeria’s Super Eagles at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. The Group-stage encounter will take place in Fès on Tuesday.

Ahead of the highly anticipated clash, Gamondi admitted his side faces a tough challenge against a Nigerian team renowned for its attacking firepower, led by Victor Osimhen alongside Samuel Chukwueze and Ademola Lookman. Tanzania will be seeking their first-ever victory over Nigeria at this level of competition.

“We need to be realistic, when you see the qualities in the Nigeria team you need to put in more than 100 percent effort to try to neutralize them. Our mentality is to try to play and attack as well, we need to be tactically discipline,” Gamondi told a press conference in Fès on Monday.

Tanzania are in Group C alongside Nigeria, Uganda and Tunisia.
