AFCON 2025: Moses Simon Laments Benjamin Fredrick’s Absence From Super Eagles Squad

Nigerian winger Moses Simon has expressed deep disappointment over the omission of his Super Eagles teammate Benjamin Fredrick from Nigeria’s squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.

Speaking in an interview with ESPN, Simon admitted that Fredrick’s absence has been an emotional moment for him, especially given the journey they have shared and the potential impact the young player could have had at the tournament.

“It’s very emotional for me,” Simon said. “It’s an unbelievably big dream to play with the young players you helped to the top because the feeling is something else.”

The Paris FC forward went on to explain that beyond the personal connection, Fredrick’s qualities would have been valuable to the Super Eagles as they prepare for the continental showpiece.

“But I’m sad that Fredrick will not be here with us in Morocco,” Simon added. “Because he would help us if he were here.”
