AFCON 2025: Morocco Target Early Qualification Against Mali
Morocco continue their African Cup of Nations 2025 campaign on Friday night when they face Mali at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.
The host nation impressed in the opener, claiming a comfortable 2-0 win over Comoros to sit top of Group A. Despite Soufiane Rahimi missing a penalty, an acrobatic overhead kick from El Kaabi sealed victory and extended Morocco’s unbeaten run to 18 matches. Victory over Mali would confirm qualification with a game to spare.
Mali, meanwhile, are under pressure after conceding late to draw 1-1 with Zambia in their opening match. The Eagles have met Morocco nine times, with the hosts holding a narrow edge and winning the 2020 CHAN final.
Brahim Díaz is expected to lead Morocco’s attack again, while Roman Saiss is ruled out and Achraf Hakimi available.
