AFCON 2025: Cameroon International Christian Kofane Cleared to Stay with Bayer Leverkusen for RB Leipzig Clash Before AFCON Duty
Cameroon international Christian Kofane will remain with Bayer Leverkusen for their crucial Bundesliga showdown against RB Leipzig this weekend before linking up with the national team for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
According to reports from L’Équipe 237, later confirmed by sources close to the player, an official agreement has been reached between Bayer Leverkusen and the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT). The German club formally requested a special exemption that would allow Kofane to stay on for Saturday’s high-profile league fixture.
FECAFOOT, under the leadership of its president, Samuel Eto’o, approved the request, giving the green light for the striker to delay his arrival in camp. As a result, Christian Kofane is expected to join the Indomitable Lions on Sunday, December 20, 2025, immediately after the clash with RB Leipzig.
