Abdeslam Ouaddou says he can smell the Betway Premiership title after Orlando Pirates beat Magesi FC 3-0
Abdeslam Ouaddou can smell the Betway Premiership.
The Orlando Pirates gaffer said his side are inching closer to their first PSL trophy in more than a decade, something he decried for a team as monumental as the Sea Robbers.
Ouaddou spoke yesterday after Pirates saw off Magesi FC 3-0 in a Betway Premiership match at New Peter Mokaba Stadium.
This victory for Pirates with goals from Patrick Maswanganyi, Oswin Appollis and Kamohelo Sebelebele, saw them narrow the point gap on the standings.
Pirates are now three points behind table toppers Mamelodi Sundowns who have 68 with the Sea Robbers on 65.
“We pray to God to maybe follow their path, we still have two games definitely we want to make our fans happy – 14 or 15 years without a title, I think we start to smell it, we are close but we cannot touch the trophy," he said.
“We still have two games we will see what happens but credit has to be given to the fantastic fans as well they really helped us and we are going to fight for them until the end.
"We are very proud of them, I think it’s a process of the club. This project of Orlando Pirates is well-managed by fantastic people who know football so I am not surprised by the title of the DDC.”
