A major internal crisis has erupted within the Senegal national team on the eve of the 2026 World Cup. According to TyC Sports, the squad is grappling with multiple issues ranging from unpaid wages to unsatisfactory living conditions.
The main source of the players’ discontent is the failure to pay promised bonuses. The footballers have yet to receive their appearance fees for the World Cup, as well as bonuses for the Africa Cup of Nations, where their initial victory over Morocco was later overturned by a decision from the appeals committee.
Team organization has also come under heavy criticism. The players expressed dissatisfaction with their accommodation, describing the hotel as far too modest for a tournament of this caliber. Additionally, the squad slammed the quality of food provided, claiming it falls short of professional sports standards. Some players have reportedly had to order food from outside the hotel to meet their needs.

Another pressing issue concerns head coach Pape Thiaw. Sources indicate that the manager has not received his salary for five months and continues to lead the national team with no active contract, creating further legal and organizational complications.
