A rare illness has been diagnosed in a player from the Swedish national team
A rare brain disease has been diagnosed in Kristoffer Olsson, a player for the Swedish national team and Midtjylland club, as reported on the Danish club's website.
Following numerous brain examinations, several large blood clots were found on both sides of the 28-year-old Olsson's brain. They appeared due to an extremely rare inflammatory process in the brain's blood vessels. Currently, Olsson's condition is stable, with doctors noting slight progress. Additionally, they have observed an increase in Kristoffer's level of consciousness.
It is worth recalling that Olsson lost consciousness at his home. The cause was an acute illness related to the brain. His life was supported by a mechanical lung ventilation device. However, doctors will now gradually attempt to disconnect the player from the ventilator, although he will remain in intensive care. The duration of treatment and the final prognosis for recovery remain unknown.
Olsson is a product of Arsenal's academy. In 2013, he even played one match for Arsenal's first team. Besides Midtjylland, he has played for AIK, Anderlecht, and Krasnodar. Olsson has accumulated 47 caps for the Swedish national team, debuting in 2017.
