Stuttgart - Borussia Dortmund: Match preview
Last season was a very good one for Stuttgart, and even a successful one. The team collected 62 points from 34 matches, finished ahead of the fifth-placed side and will now play in the UEFA Champions League. What is more, they have already begun their new European campaign with a 3:1 win over Viking. Stuttgart also reached the final of the previous edition of the DFB-Pokal, where they lost 0:3. As for this Bundesliga season, Stuttgart have lost two of their three matches. Their only defeat came against Cologne. Repeating last season's achievements will be difficult.
Borussia Dortmund finished a confident second in the league last season. At the start of this campaign, Dortmund faced Bayern Munich in the German Super Cup and lost 1:2. However, things have gone uphill for the Black and Yellows since then. Borussia have won all three of their Bundesliga matches: 3:0 against Paderborn, 3:2 against Hoffenheim and 2:0 against Hamburg. Dortmund have also beaten their opponents 5:0 in the DFB-Pokal and 3:2 in the UEFA Champions League. It is a superb winning run, and in the German championship they have nine points after three rounds, with a goal difference of 8:2, putting them in second place.
Probable lineups
- Stuttgart: Bredlow; Jeltsch, Chabot, Mittelstadt; Vagnoman, Promel, Stiller, Fuhrich; Undav, El Khannouss; Pejcinovic
- Borussia Dortmund: Kobel; Anton, Schlotterbeck, Gadou; Ryerson, Bellingham, Nmecha, Svensson; Nwaneri, Silva; Guirassy
Prediction
Borussia have been performing very well at home. It will be very difficult against Stuttgart away from home, but I think they will avoid defeat. I am offering a bet on Borussia Dortmund not to lose, with odds of 1.62 (X2).
