Porto vs PSV: Match preview
Porto won the Portuguese league title last season and returned to the UEFA Champions League. However, the Dragons have made a poor start to their latest European campaign. The Portuguese side lost 2–0 to Manchester City before suffering a 3–2 defeat against Real Betis. Porto had been leading 2–1 during that match but failed to hold on to their advantage. In the domestic league, however, they have been producing excellent results, winning all eight of their matches. Porto have collected 24 points from eight games and boast a goal difference of 20:4, with a five-point lead over second place.
PSV have won several consecutive Dutch league titles, but the team's results have been less consistent this season. They have collected 19 points from nine rounds and currently sit third in the table, four points behind the league leaders. Therefore, a difficult battle to defend their Eredivisie title still lies ahead. As for the UEFA Champions League, PSV drew 1–1 with Shakhtar Donetsk at home in their opening match before losing 1–0 away to Leipzig. As a result, they have just one point from two matches, which is clearly not an ideal start. PSV reached the knockout stages last season and will be looking to do so again.
Predicted lineups
- Porto: D Costa; M Fernandes, Bednarek, Kiwior, F Moura; Froholdt, Rosario, Veiga; Sainz, Samu, Pepe
- PSV: Kovar; Dest, Geertruida, Obispo, Kostic; Sano, Junior; Perisic, Santos, Van Bommel; Mijnans
Prediction
Porto have been playing very well at home, but PSV are also a fairly evenly matched opponent, so I think we are in for an incredible game. I recommend betting on over 3 goals.
