Will miss El Clasico: Flick loses key defender ahead of clash with Real Madrid
Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has confirmed that Jules Kounde will not play against Real Madrid in El Clasico. The French defender suffered a serious sprain to the ligaments in his right ankle during the match against Real Betis and has already missed the Champions League clash with PSG.
“Jules will not be available tomorrow. We don’t want to risk his health. He won’t have time to recover, and we have to accept that,” the German coach said.
Xavi Espart is considered the most likely replacement for Kounde. The young defender impressed in the match against PSG, scoring a spectacular goal and successfully handling Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. Flick praised the player’s potential but stressed that he still has room to improve.
The coach also commented on Dani Olmo’s injury, sustained in Paris. According to Flick, the midfielder will be sidelined for several weeks, and his absence will be a significant loss for the team. At the same time, the coach is counting on Fermin Lopez, who can also make an impact in attack.
