Who are the best? Euro 2024 Team of the tournament by Dailysports

The European Championship has come to an end. The Spanish national team became the main team of the continent for the next four years, now it is worth summarising and naming those who became the best at the tournament according to the Dailysports team. Our editorial team decided to choose the symbolic team of this tournament.
In the context of the fact that the teams at the tournament were more focused on defence, we decided to choose a more defensive tactical formation - 5-3-2. Also in the symbolic team there will not be a strong striker, as the players of this role did not impress us much at the tournament.
We have included players who played at least three matches at the tournament. So you won't see players who played only one outstanding match, like Polish goalkeeper Łukasz Skorupski.
Goalkeeper - Giorgi Mamardashvili (Georgia)
The goalkeeper position was the hardest to choose from. There is Mike Maignan, Unai Simon and Diogo Costa. But still we will stop on the goalkeeper of the national team of Georgia, Giorgi Mamardashvili. Fans of the Spanish championship knew about his abilities long ago, which he showed in Valencia.
Now the 23-year-old Georgian announced himself on a wider arena and announced quite loudly, almost single-handedly together with George Mikatuadze dragged his team to the round of 16 already in the debut tournament.
Left-back - Marc Cucurella (Spain)
The Chelsea defender faced a lot of criticism during the club season, as his form in the English league left much to be desired. We don't know what Luis de la Fuente did to him, but at the European Championships, Cucurella seemed to be reborn.
The player became a mainstay in the Spanish national team, playing in all matches of Euro 2024, except for the game against Albania, and made a significant contribution to the gold medals of his team.
Left centre-back - Rúben Dias (Portugal)
The choice of the Manchester City defender, who left the tournament in the quarter-finals, may not seem obvious to some, but let's look at the numbers: Dias' passing accuracy was 94 per cent, he won every second duel, and he was more effective on the top (61 per cent of the aerial battles won).
Centre-back - Mark Guehi (England)
Guehi comes from far from the top club, but the feeling is that he won't be a Crystal Palace player for long. The centre-back's performance at the tournament was pretty assured, and although he didn't allow England to win the trophy, he was one of the brightest players in Gareth Southgate's rather faded squad.
Right centre-back - William Saliba (France)
The Arsenal defender has long shown his level at club level, now his task was to prove it at the national team tournament. And, it can be considered that he coped with this task. Among the merits of Saliba is the fact that the French national team reached the semi-finals, conceding only three goals, two of which - in the game with Spain.
Right-back - Jules Koundé (France)
Since making his debut for France in the summer of 2021, Koundé has created the impression of a fairly reliable player, and Euro 2024 has once again confirmed that opinion. The Barcelona defender has played every game at the tournament from whistle to whistle, which seems to indicate that Didier Deschamps trusts him for good reason.
Defensive midfielder - Rodri (Spain)
In the final match Rodri was injured in the first half and was unable to finish the game, but without his actions it is unlikely that the Spanish national team would have reached the final. Although Furia Roja conceded a goal in each play-off match, but the Manchester City midfielder managed to act confidently in the centre of the pitch, which allowed the already European champions not to concede more than a goal per match.
Left centre midfielder - Toni Kroos (Germany)
Euro 2024 was the swan song for the now former Real Madrid midfielder. In his last match, detractors will remember the injury he inflicted on Pedri, but we will celebrate the way Toney conducted his teammates throughout the tournament.
Although the end of his career came on a minor note, Kroos' performance is worth noting.
Right centre midfielder - Dani Olmo (Spain)
Olmo entered the tournament as a substitute, but despite that, even from the bench, he performed effectively. The aforementioned injury to Pedri in the match against Germany changed everything. It was then that the RB Leipzig midfielder came on the pitch from the bench and turned the game around, scoring and passing.
After that injury, Olmo became the main player and replaced Pedri quite reliably that de la Fuente should now think about who should play in the midfield of the Spanish national team.
Left wing-back - Cody Gakpo (Netherlands)
One of the blacksmiths of the Netherlands' promotion to the semi-finals of the Euro can be safely called just the Liverpool player. Three goals allowed him to share the golden boot of the tournament with five other players.
Right wing-back - Lamine Yamal (Spain)
Although Yamal became European champion at the age of 17, he spent the majority of the tournament as a 16-year-old, which further shocked many. Plenty of records have been broken due to his age, but at the Euros, the Barcelona winger showed that it wasn't just because of his skills and talent.
However, the same advances have been given to another notable La Masia alumnus, namely Ansu Fati. If Yamal does not meet his fate, we will have another bright star in the football sky.
Coach - Luis de la Fuente (Spain)
Before the start of the tournament, few people bet on the Spanish national team as the favourite: there are enough players not from the top clubs, the coach himself is far from famous, he worked with the Spanish youth teams, and failed at the club level.
But it was de la Fuente managed to make, what is called, the team: to unite the whole country around him, making everyone support it. At the Euros, he tried to give playing time to everyone, and as a result, he wrote himself into the pantheon of Spanish football, along with Luis Aragonés and Vicente del Bosque.
