Following Morocco’s impressive performance against Brazil (1–1), the Atlas Lions’ manager is warning against overconfidence ahead of their second group stage match at the 2026 World Cup.

Mohamed Ouahbi has emphasised the need to remain focused ahead of the new challenge facing his team against Scotland this Friday at 10 pm GMT at the Gillette Stadium. For the Moroccan manager, the best way to avoid any euphoria is to look at the reality of the standings.

“We had to put the Brazil match behind us quickly. Euphoria? You just have to look at the standings – Scotland are ahead of us. They have 3 points and we have 1; we need to do even better. We look at the standings to keep our feet on the ground.”

Mohamed Ouahbi also expects a particularly physically demanding match.

“The physical challenge from the Scots will come from second balls or aerial duels. We need to stay compact for as long as possible to have as many players as possible around the ball. But we need to control the match and stay calm to prevent it from swinging from one end to the other. We mustn’t get too stressed."
