By beating Scotland (1–0) on the second matchday of the group stage at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the Atlas Lions have further cemented their place in history.

Morocco continues to cement its status as one of Africa’s top nations on the international stage. Having held Brazil to a draw in their opening match of the 2026 World Cup, the Moroccans secured a victory over Scotland on 20 June in Group C.

This result allows the Atlas Lions to write a new chapter in the history of African football on the world stage. Thanks to this victory, the Moroccan team have now gone six consecutive matches without defeat in the World Cup group stage.

This is a feat that no African team had ever achieved before.
