Morocco captain Achraf Hakimi has praised goalkeeper Yassine Bounou following the Atlas Lions' dramatic penalty shootout victory over the Netherlands in the Round of 32 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Bounou was the hero for Morocco, producing several important saves during the match before delivering a remarkable performance in the shootout. The experienced goalkeeper denied Justin Kluivert, Quinten Timber, and Crysencio Summerville from the penalty spot, ensuring Morocco secured a place in the Round of 16.
