“I Jumped and It Was a Goal” – Issa Diop Reacts to His Dramatic Equaliser Against the Netherlands

Morocco defender Issa Diop has reflected on the dramatic goal that helped the Atlas Lions complete a remarkable comeback against the Netherlands in the Round of 32 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Diop scored a late stoppage-time equaliser to force the match into extra time, with Morocco eventually progressing after winning the penalty shootout.

Speaking after the game with the media, the defender admitted and confessed he had little time to think before finding the back of the net.

“Honestly, I don’t really know what I was doing inside the penalty area. I saw the ball there. I jumped and it was a goal,” Diop said.
