‘We Are Coming to Win the Next AFCON’ - Eto’o Rallies Lions After AFCON Exit

Cameroon Football Federation president Samuel Eto’o has urged the Indomitable Lions to stay proud and focused after their AFCON 2025 quarter-final exit to hosts Morocco in Casablanca.

The defeat sparked controversy over officiating, but Eto’o struck an emotional and defiant tone in a locker-room speech shared online. “Seeing you sad, I have tears in my eyes… I can only be proud of you,” he told the players, praising their commitment. He added, “I know my small person represents nothing in front of the 30 to 35 million Cameroonians who are proud of you.”

Eto’o insisted the setback was motivation, declaring, “This is our first victory… The next AFCON, we are coming to win it,” while also commending staff for unity.
