Vladimir Petkovic pleased with Algeria’s World Cup 2026 campaign
“It is already a historic”
The Fennecs’ manager chose to focus on his team’s performance rather than their elimination in the round of 32.
Algeria’s World Cup campaign, taking place in the United States, Canada and Mexico, came to an end on 3 July following a 2–0 defeat to Switzerland in the round of 32. But despite the elimination, Vladimir Petkovic is satisfied with his team’s performance.
The Swiss manager justified his stance by pointing out that the Algerian team had reached the knockout stages of a World Cup for the first time in twelve years.
“It is already a historic achievement for Algeria to have qualified for the second round of a World Cup after a 12-year absence.”
