Details: According to renowned insider Fabrizio Romano, the Aston Villa striker was left out of the squad for today's Premier League clash with Brighton while negotiations with Al Hilal continue. The Saudi club are preparing another bid and are confident they can complete the transfer, with Watkins already having agreed personal terms.

Aston Villa have not yet reached a final agreement with Al Hilal over the transfer fee, but Watkins' absence from the matchday squad is another significant development in the saga. Romano also reports that the Birmingham club are already working on finding a replacement for their forward.
Al Hilal have been pushing to sign the England international for several days. Earlier, the Saudi side submitted a package worth around €45 million including add-ons, while Villa retained control over whether the striker would be allowed to leave.
It is worth noting that Transfermarkt currently values the 30-year-old Watkins at €25 million. His contract with Aston Villa runs until June 2028.
