Tough sanctions. Italian clubs have been banned from participating in the Super League project
The Italian Football Federation (FIGC) has decided to prohibit Italian clubs from participating in any European Super League project.
According to the decision, if any Italian club agrees to take part in the Super League, it will be excluded from Serie A in the 2024/25 season.
Earlier, AS Roma and Inter released official statements expressing opposition to the new Super League project. AC Milan and Juventus chose to remain silent, while the presidents of Napoli and Lazio supported the decision of the European Court in favor of the new project.
It is expected that the English Premier League will also make a similar decision.
If the Super League can gather 64 participants, it plans to start in September 2025. However, as of now, all top clubs in England and Germany have declined to participate in the project, and the only ones advocating for its creation are Real Madrid and Barcelona.
