Inter and Milan have launched a sweeping crackdown in their fan sectors ahead of the new season. According to El Corriere della Sera, both clubs, in cooperation with the police and public prosecutors, have tightened the process for issuing season tickets and selling tickets for the 2025/26 season, taking direct aim at the radical ultra groups of Curva Nord and Curva Sud.
Hundreds of applications from supporters previously involved in violent incidents, those banned under DASPO, or those with club-imposed disciplinary sanctions have been rejected. Among them are figures implicated in the high-profile Double Curve case, which is linked to mafia activity and brutal crimes in the stands. Some leaders of these fan groups have already been convicted and sentenced to prison terms of up to 10 years.
As part of the new security measures at San Siro, the following protocols are being introduced:
- turnstiles with video surveillance systems,
- personalized season tickets,
- a ban on transferring tickets to third parties,
- and in the future — facial recognition technology.
The latter system is still awaiting approval due to privacy concerns, but it is expected to be implemented at the start of the season. In the long run, similar measures could be adopted in stadiums worldwide.
With these actions, the two biggest clubs in Milan have set out to radically transform supporter culture at their stadiums, erasing any chance of aggressive ultras returning to the stands.
