Arsenal approached the summer transfer window with specific objectives and largely achieved them. The Gunners strengthened their defense by signing Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna and bolstered their midfield with the acquisition of Mikel Merino from Real Sociedad. Additionally, they secured Raheem Sterling on loan from Chelsea in the final hours of the transfer window.

However, the one position left unaddressed was that of the goalkeeper, which became a more pressing issue following the departure of their backup goalkeeper, Aaron Ramsdale. After being relegated to the second choice behind David Raya, Ramsdale decided to move on and joined Southampton.

In the final hours of the deadline, Arsenal managed to secure Neto Murara from Bournemouth on a season-long loan. This decision was met with dissatisfaction among fans, especially considering Arsenal had other plans initially.

The club attempted to sign Joan García from Espanyol, but the Spanish club rejected their £25 million offer. They then faced another rejection after offering £50,000 for Wolverhampton goalkeeper Daniel Bentley.

The last player Arsenal turned to was Wigan Athletic's Sam Tickle. However, Tickle declined the opportunity to become the second-choice goalkeeper, even at Arsenal, opting instead to remain with his League One club. The transfer offer was made to Tickle on the day of the deadline.
