The relationship between Florentino Pérez and Joan Laporta has flared up once again, leaving behind the recent period of relative calm between Real Madrid and Barcelona. The latest evidence of this renewed confrontation is the unfolding of the so-called Negreira case, where the Madrid club is adopting an increasingly hardline stance.

According to Diario AS, Real Madrid has officially requested that Barcelona provide access to their financial records for the period from 2010 to 2018. This includes accounting statements and payments to companies such as Nilsad, Dasnil 95, Soccercam, Best Norton, Tresep, and Radamanto, as well as audit reports, legal correspondence, and minutes from the club’s tax authority meetings. In addition, the Madrid side is insisting on the opportunity to question Carles Naval—Barcelona’s match delegate.

Real Madrid is also not ruling out a more radical step—filing a separate civil lawsuit against Barcelona after the current proceedings conclude. According to AS, this could involve a multimillion-euro compensation claim for damages that, in the view of the Madrid club, resulted from the Negreira payments. Real are already participating in the process as a plaintiff in the case concerning alleged sporting corruption, while other La Liga clubs have limited themselves to a formal presence.
