Despite Barcelona's keen interest, Inter have struck a preliminary agreement with Al Hilal regarding the transfer of Portuguese defender João Cancelo, according to Sport Mediaset.
The source reports that the Milan club has agreed with the Saudi powerhouse on a six-month loan deal for Cancelo. A key aspect of the arrangement is Al Hilal's willingness to cover a portion of the player's salary for the second half of the season—given Cancelo's €15 million annual wage plus bonuses, the Nerazzurri, like most European sides, are unable to fully meet his contract demands.
At the same time, Inter continue direct talks with the player himself, hoping to convince him to return to Milan despite competition from other suitors. The most serious rival remains Barcelona, who are closely monitoring the situation but have yet to make an official offer. Cancelo himself is determined to return to Spain.
