Experienced forward Raul Garcia of Athletic Bilbao has made the decision to retire from professional football at the conclusion of the current season. Garcia will hang up his boots at the age of 37.

Garcia has been with the Bilbao team since 2015, when he transferred from Atlético Madrid. The striker ranks third in La Liga history for the most appearances, having played 602 matches (scoring 109 goals), behind only Andoni Zubizarreta and Joaquin (who played 622 matches each).

Throughout his illustrious football career, the Navarre-born player has won numerous domestic titles in Spain (league, cup, super cup), as well as the UEFA Europa League and UEFA Super Cup with Atlético.

In the current season, the former Spanish national team forward (who earned two caps) has played 18 matches in all competitions, contributing to Bilbao's 24th Copa del Rey title. In total, for Athletic, he has participated in 356 matches, scoring 83 goals and providing 40 assists.
