Netherlands and Bayern Munich defender Matthijs de Ligt expressed his thoughts on not having played a single minute at Euro 2024 so far.

"I felt that I was in good shape, and I showed that at Bayern in the second half of the season. I would have liked to continue that momentum here. In that sense, it's been a false start to the tournament for me. The competition in defense is tough. Throughout my career, I've learned that the beginning of a tournament or season is exciting, but the end is what truly matters. That's why I'm relatively calm.

I also have a feeling that something will happen during this tournament that will allow me to still be important. I guarantee that I will do my best during training and always strive to be in the best possible shape. It will depend on moments during games, injuries, or suspensions. One must be ready for that," the defender told Bayern & Germany.

Earlier, it was reported that Bayern Munich has prepared a list of six players who could leave the club this offseason, with De Ligt being one of them.

At Euro 2024, the Netherlands has earned 4 points in the first two matches. In their final group stage match, the "Tulips" will play against Austria.
