The athlete from Uganda sets an Olympic record in the 10,000 meters race
On Friday, August 2, the final of the 10,000 meters race took place at the 2024 Olympic Games.
The victory was claimed by Joshua Cheptegei of Uganda, who completed the distance in 26:43.14 minutes, setting a new Olympic record. For reference, Cheptegei won a silver medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
In second place was Berihu Aregawi of Ethiopia, finishing with a time of 26:43.44 minutes. The bronze medal went to American Grant Fisher, who clocked 26:43.46 minutes.
17-year-old Canadian swimmer Summer McIntosh set an Olympic record in the 200-meter butterfly event, completing the distance in 2:03.03 minutes.
Moreover, legendary American gymnast Simone Biles became the Olympic champion in the most prestigious discipline in artistic gymnastics – the individual all-around.
It is worth noting that French swimmer Léon Marchand has already won three gold medals and set new Olympic records three times.
