Thapelo Xoki on Orlando Pirates' resurgence: We are doing a lot of work behind the scenes, lot of extra training and it's working for us so far

Thapelo Xoki insists Orlando Pirates are reaping the fruits of hard work with their impressive run of form in the Betway Premiership lately.

The Sea Robbers have been a high scoring side with their opponents coming to heavy score-lines such as the 5-0 against TS Galaxy, 5-0 against Golden Arrows and a 3-0 win against AmaZulu.

These scores were not something they were accustomed to in the early stages of the current campaign.

But the defender said a lot of work ‘behind the scenes’ now reveals itself on the field of play and added that in today’s fierce clash against chief rivals Kaizer Chiefs, they can score such a high number of goals.

“Many people are surprised when we get these scorelines. But within the club, we are not really surprised because we see the work behind the scenes,” Xoki told the media.

“We see the preparations going into these games. Yes, in a big game like that Soweto Derby, we expect maybe a bit of resistance from the opposition, but once we click, any scoreline is possible with our team because we have hungry young players who are doing so well for the club.

“We have people who are pushing them behind the scenes. For us, once we see the scoreline, we are not really surprised. We get encouragement that the processes are going well, and we have to make sure that we keep it that way.”
