Super Eagles Striker Tolu Arokodare Scores First Premier League Goal in Wolves’ Defeat to Arsenal
Super Eagles forward Tolu Arokodare scored his first Premier League goal for Wolverhampton Wanderers, but it was not enough to prevent a 2–1 loss to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium, with the hosts benefiting from two costly own goals.
The Nigerian striker, who joined Wolves from Belgian Jupiler League side Genk on deadline day, began the encounter on the substitutes’ bench. He was introduced in the 69th minute, replacing fellow forward Jørgen Strand Larsen, as Wolves pushed for a way back into the contest.
Arokodare made an instant impact, finding the net with a late equaliser that briefly raised hopes of a hard-earned point for the visitors. However, their optimism was quickly dashed when an unfortunate second own goal handed the title-chasing Gunners the decisive advantage, sealing a narrow 2–1 victory.
The defeat further deepens Wolverhampton Wanderers’ struggles in the Premier League this season. Wolves have now collected just two points from 16 matches, leaving them still in desperate search of their first league win of the campaign.
