Mauril Njoya has insisted that Stade Malien are not in South Africa for a holiday.

The coach said his team are in South Africa to make it known that the so-caled small teams can spring a surprise against the big ones.

In this case, no one is giving his side a chance against Miguel Cardoso’s Sundowns given their less popularity and achievements in the continent.

"In football, there are a lot of surprises. Those so-called small teams can surprise big teams," Njoya told the media.

"Even for us, if we are playing against a team that some may call a small team, we are always going for the win.

"But if they call us a small team, we will also go for the win against a big team."

Njoya further stressed that his team did not travel to South Africa merely to participate but to prove they belong amongst the continent's top clubs.

"The Champions League is where we want to be. It is where the biggest teams in Africa compete," he added.

"So we are here not just to visit, we are here to stay. We want to be one of the best in Africa."

The match starts at 8pm at Loftus Versveld.
