Simona Halep has filed an appeal regarding her disqualification

Simona Halep has filed an appeal against her four-year disqualification due to a failed doping test, as reported by Sky Sports.
The tennis player is contesting the decision made by the International Tennis Integrity Agency for two anti-doping program violations. Her drug test yielded a positive result for the banned substance Roxadustat after the 2022 US Open. Additionally, her biological passport showed irregularities.
Halep has vehemently maintained her innocence and repeatedly sought the overturning of her temporary suspension, first imposed in the fall of 2022. She was even included in the list of participants for the 2023 US Open but was subsequently withdrawn from the event before the draw.
Her suspension covers two separate violations, which means that Halep likely requires the annulment of both charges by the Court of Arbitration for Sport to return to competition before 2026.
Simona Halep became the world's No. 1 women's singles tennis player in October 2017 after reaching the final of the China Open. She won her first Grand Slam title at the 2018 French Open, ending a 10-year wait for her first major title and overcoming two prior losses in Grand Slam finals.
In 2018, she finished the year as the world No. 1 for the second consecutive year, although an injury prevented her from participating in the season-ending WTA Finals. In 2019, she won her second Grand Slam title, defeating Serena Williams in the Wimbledon final.
