On June 23, the final matches of Group A in Euro 2024 took place. In Stuttgart, Scotland played against Hungary, while Frankfurt hosted the match between Switzerland and Germany.

Germany had already secured the top spot in the group, needing only to avoid losing to Switzerland to guarantee first place. A draw would have also sufficed for Murat Yakin's team. Despite their gameplay advantage, Germany was trailing from the 28th minute and only managed to equalize in injury time thanks to Fullkrug's goal.

The winner of the match between Scotland and Hungary would likely have a chance to advance to the playoffs by securing third place in the group. A draw did not satisfy either team, leading to a fierce battle throughout the entire 90 minutes. The Hungarians snatched victory in the last seconds of the match.

Germany won the group and will play in the round of 16 with Switzerland, Hungary has a slim chance of qualifying for the knockout stages from third place, and Scotland is heading home.
