Senegal booked a place in the Africa Cup of Nations quarter-finals after coming from behind to beat Sudan 3-1 in Tangier. The Lions of Teranga were stunned early when Amar Abdallah curled Sudan ahead in the sixth minute.
Senegal responded with authority, creating chances at both ends before Papa Gueye struck from outside the box to level the score in the 29th minute. Gueye completed the turnaround in first-half stoppage time, finishing clinically after good work from Nicolas Jackson. Senegal controlled the second half and extended their lead when Ibrahim Mbaye converted a long ball from Sadio Mane at the near post in the 77th minute.
After an early scare, Senegal eased to victory and will face either Mali or Tunisia in the last eight of the tournament.
