Football news
Rangers International secured a 2–0 home win against MC Alger on 18 October, in the first leg of the second qualifying round of the CAF Champions League.
The Nigerians have taken a significant step towards qualifying for the group stage. But attention quickly shifted to the stands. The final whistle was followed by heated altercations and clashes between supporters of both teams, in an atmosphere that had become electric.
Some MC Alger supporters are reported to have damaged seats at the MKO Abiola Stadium. These reports have yet to be confirmed, but could attract the attention of African football authorities.
Should any breaches be proven, the Algerian club could face sanctions.
