CAF Champions League: MC Alger Protest Refereeing Decisions and Fan Harassment After Rangers Clash
Mouloudia Club of Algiers has officially released a statement expressing dissatisfaction with the refereeing decisions and alleged harassment of their delegation during their CAF Champions League clash against Enugu Rangers in Abeokuta.
In an official statement, MC Alger questioned the penalty awarded to Rangers in the second preliminary-round encounter, insisting no foul justified the decision.
The club also criticised the referee for issuing a second yellow card to Oussama Benhaoua for an incident it claimed involved a foul committed by Ayoub Ghezala. MC Alger described the decision as deliberate, noting that Benhaoua had already been cautioned.
Beyond the officiating, the Algerian side alleged that members of its delegation were repeatedly harassed in the VIP stand at the MKO Abiola Stadium. The club also claimed that its official YouTube channel's cameraman was forced to change camera angles several times during the live broadcast.
MC Alger further rejected any suggestion that its supporters were responsible for damaging seats at the stadium, stating that it had evidence the seats were already damaged before kick-off.
The club also raised concerns about the cost of match tickets for its travelling supporters, claiming that tickets were priced at $20 each. It described the price as excessive compared with those at other African stadiums where it has previously competed in the CAF Champions League.
