Egypt began their Africa Cup of Nations campaign with a dramatic comeback win over Zimbabwe, sealed by Mohamed Salah’s stoppage-time strike.
The Pharaohs were stunned early when Prince Dube fired Zimbabwe ahead on the counter after 20 minutes. Egypt dominated possession and created several chances, forcing goalkeeper Washington Arubi into repeated saves. Their pressure finally paid off in the 64th minute as Omar Marmoush produced a brilliant equaliser.
As the match seemed destined for a draw, captain Salah struck in injury time to secure all three points, giving the seven-time champions a winning start to their title quest overall tonight.
