Salah and company make a thunderous start to their AFCON campaign.

Details: According to statistical portal Opta, yesterday's opening Group B match of AFCON between Egypt and Zimbabwe saw a new record set for shots on goal.

After conceding a goal in the 20th minute, the Egyptian national team threw everything forward in search of an equalizer. As a result, Egypt managed to fire a staggering 35 shots at Zimbabwe's goal — the most in a single AFCON match since tournament statistics began being tracked in 2010.

Out of those 35 shots, 11 were on target, which ultimately paid off as Egypt clinched victory thanks to goals from Salah and Marmoush.

At the moment, Egypt shares the top spot in Group B with South Africa, who they will face on December 26.

Reminder: Fantastic! Mohamed Salah scores against Zimbabwe and helps Egypt pull off a comeback
