Salah, Mane Renew Rivalry With AFCON Final at Stake

Three years after their last meeting, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane meet again on Wednesday as Egypt and Senegal clash in Tangiers for a place in the Africa Cup of Nations final. It will be their first time sharing a pitch since Liverpool lost the Champions League final to Real Madrid in May 2022.

Since then, Mane left Anfield for Bayern Munich and later joined Al-Nassr, while Salah remains at Liverpool, despite being linked with a Saudi move and falling out of favour before the tournament.

Salah, Egypt’s captain, has scored four goals in four games and insists, “Nobody, even in Egypt, wants to win this trophy more than me… This is the title I am waiting for.” Mane, already a champion, says, “The pressure for me is over.” now
