Sadio Mane scored a late winner as Senegal beat Egypt 1-0 on Wednesday to reach the Africa Cup of Nations final in Tanger, ending Mohamed Salah’s bid for a first continental title. The semifinal was a repeat of the 2021 final, again decided by Mane, in a tense contest short on clear chances.

After a cagey first half marked by bookings and injuries, Senegal gradually took control while Egypt struggled to offer attacking threat. Mane delivered the decisive moment in the 78th minute, controlling the ball on the edge of the area before firing low past Mohamed El Shenawy.

Egypt, cautious for long spells, managed their first attempt late on but could not find an equaliser. Senegal advance to their fourth AFCON final, while Egypt suffer a rare semifinal defeat in Tanger.
