Richards Bay dents Mamelodi Sundowns title chances with a goalless draw in the Betway Premiership match at the sold out Umhlathuze Sports Complex
Mamelodi Sundowns dropped two points in their goalless draw against Richards Bay as a win could have seen them jump to the top of the table.
Sundowns also played a 1-1 draw against Stellenbosch FC in midweek as the Betway Premiership title race intensifies.
Fellow title chasers Orlando Pirates dropped points against Kaizer Chiefs earlier today and a win for the Brazilians could have seen them overtake Pirates on the top of the standings.
But it was not to be as the Natal Rich Boys showed steel against this season’s Caf Champions League finalists.
The Ronnie Gabriel troops also held Pirates to a 2-2 draw in a game which they nearly beat the title chasing Sea Robbers.
Gabriel’s assistant Papi Zothwane has been vocal about not doing any team any favour and how the Umhlathuze Sports Complex is turning into their slaughterhouse of sort.
The dent on Sundowns’ title chase by Richards Bay in a sold out game confirms that the Umhlathuze Sports Complex is now their fortress.
