Orlando Pirates defender Kamogelo Sebelebele on their 3-0 win over Kaizer Chiefs: We could not afford to lose our third match in succession
The two defeats Orlando Pirates suffered ahead of the Soweto derby fuelled them for the 3-0 win over Kaizer Chiefs at a sold out FNB Stadium yesterday.
Pirates lost to Mamelodi Sundowns and Casric Stars knocked them out of the Nedbank Cup and these games were before the showdown against Chiefs.
Kamogelo Sebelebele disclosed that they did not want lose the derby match as it would have meant they lose three matches in succession.
Sebelebele was named the Man of the Match as Tshepang Moremi, Oswin Appollis and Evidence Makgopa scored the goals for the Sea Robbers to be on top of the PSL standings.
“Today’s game was very important seeing that we come from two defeats,” he told OP TV.
“Today we had to head up and focus on today’s game because it’s a big game in South Africa and we had to make our supporters happy.
“The nerves are always there but once you get into the ground, it’s a man’s game whether it’s a big game or not.
“I also play for Orlando Pirates, so I have to be switched on at all times because each and every game is important at Orlando Pirates.”
“I’m very happy. First half wasn’t easy, but my derby had to be a win and we won.”
