Previous results or past records play no role on the day of the Soweto derby.

That Kaizer chiefs lost 2-1 against Stellenbosch FC in midweek does not automatically mean that the will suffer the same fate against Orlando Pirates this afternoon.

Even Pirates’ loss to Cascric Stars a week ago today in the Nedbank Cup does not mean they will lose to Amakhosi today.

This is according to Pirates skipper Nkosinathi Sibisi.

“The Derby is the Derby, whether you’re in eighth or 16th position, it doesn’t really matter, it’s a game you have to win, there’s bragging rights up for grabs, it’s a game of consequence this time around,” said Sibisi.

“We know if we win, we go top of the table again, so for us it’s just taking it every game as it comes. Every team has improved, not only Chiefs, if you go through the table, there’s improvement everywhere.

“It’s not about them in the title race, there’s everyone else, so we need to just go into the game with a positive mindset, to say we can take this game.”

The game starts at 3.30pm at FNB Stadium.
