Orlando Pirates' Andre de Jong on Relebohile Mofokeng talent: He is among the best players I have played alongside to and I hope he goes abroad soon

Andre de Jong has thrown his weight behind team-mate Relebohile Mofokeng to be the Player of the Season.

De Jong said joining Orlando Pirates have given him an opportunity to see Mofokeng closer which made him see how good the Bafana Bafana international is.

“To see Mofokeng and training with him banging in goals is really nice. I think he’s got a massive future ahead of him and I think he’s probably up for the Player of the Season award,” De Jong said.

“So hopefully that goes to him or Oswin Appollis, I think they are both deserving of it.”

De Jong said he derives pleasure when he sees youngsters shine in his presence as he mentioned Mamelodi Sundowns’ Jayden Adams, who he played with at Stellenbosch FC. The New Zealand international also mentioned now his team-mate at Pirates having also played with him at AmaZulu two seasons ago.

“For me, just experiencing the young players, I think Mofokeng up there with the best. I had Jayden Adams at Stellenbosch FC, and he was ticking nicely at that time. Tshepang Moremi at AmaZulu FC was also good, so I’ve been lucky to play with a lot of these guys. I think they have a bright future; hopefully, they can go overseas at some point to test themselves.”
