Nine injured as shooting erupts near England’s training base in Kansas

Just days before England’s national team is set to arrive in Kansas City, a serious incident has raised concerns among the organizers of the 2026 World Cup. A shooting near what will be the team’s training base left nine people injured.
According to local police, the incident occurred around 4 a.m. on Troost Avenue in Kansas City. Responding officers heard gunshots and discovered a large crowd dispersing from the scene.
Initially, three women were taken to the hospital, but later reports confirmed that a total of nine adults required medical attention. Fortunately, all of the injuries were non-life-threatening.
At this time, no suspects have been detained. Police continue their investigation and have increased patrols in the area. The incident has drawn particular attention because the shooting took place roughly six kilometers from the training center and hotel where the England squad will be based during the group stage of the World Cup.
