The England head coach admitted he didn't want to jeopardize Rice's health.
Details: Speaking at the post-match press conference following England's victory over Croatia in their World Cup opener, England manager Thomas Tuchel discussed the substitution of one of his star players, Declan Rice.
Tuchel conceded that Rice may have sustained an injury during the match, and keeping him on the pitch could have resulted in unexpected consequences:
"I hope they're all right, because normally I would never substitute Declan, but I didn't want to take any risks," Tuchel stated.
Rice was substituted in the 72nd minute after he started limping during play.
Further updates regarding Rice's condition will be provided in the near future.
