Moretti Challenges Ethics Panel Ahead of Hearing in San Lorenzo Scandal

While San Lorenzo prepares to face Argentinos Juniors in the Apertura quarterfinals, off-field turmoil continues to grip the club. According to TyC Sports, suspended president Marcelo Moretti has challenged the legitimacy of the Ethics and Honor Tribunal set to judge him, filing motions to recuse four of its seven members.
Moretti claims that their appointments, made in September 2024 during a special session of the club’s Assembly of Representatives, were procedurally flawed. The move comes as he faces disciplinary action following the release of a video by Canal 9 showing him receiving cash from María José Scottini, allegedly to secure a youth signing.
Despite mounting pressure from fans —including protest banners during recent home matches— and vocal criticism from within the club, Moretti insists on his innocence. After San Lorenzo’s win over Tigre, he posted a defiant message suggesting he expects to return to his position.
On May 8, Julio Lopardo was named interim president and openly called for Moretti’s resignation, stating, “This club does not forgive, and staying only causes more harm.”
