Messi revealed that he played out his last match with an injury

Legendary forward Lionel Messi, currently playing for Inter Miami, revealed that he finished today's match against Chile while carrying an injury.

According to Messi, due to the rough play of the Chilean defense, he sustained a bruised ankle, which he endured until the final whistle.

"It was a bruise, the pain from which lingered and did not diminish at all," Messi told Marca.

As a reminder, Argentina defeated Chile 1-0 thanks to Lautaro Martinez's goal in the 88th minute, thus securing their spot in the quarterfinals as group leaders.

So far, Messi has only recorded one assist in the Copa America 2024, which came in the match against Canada (2-0).

In the final round of the group stage, Argentina will face Peru, which currently has only one point.
